A group of us from trip 16 went south toward the main doc campground on the island, to a little stream. We went in the dark with torches, nets, buckets and measuring equipment. We caught and measured all the fish we could find in the little pools. We rock hoped, slipped and tripped, climbed and scrambled up the steep wee creek and encountered big Weta along the way. The Bandeds were really slippery and would jump out of our hands and the bucket! Josh caught the biggest one! Fat Freddy was 23cm long!! This was pretty amazing as the creek had 3 meter waterfalls and only small pools filled with sticks and leaves. After a tiring 3 hours we left the native fish and trudged back to camp with a mission successfully accomplished!
